I FEAR GOD’S WRATH. I fear that Western Culture will be its subject. That is because God displays his wrath to civilizations by giving them up to their lusts. That was the case in the first century when Paul wrote Romans.
“Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.” (Romans 1:22–25).
Romans 1:22-25
This is God’s pattern. Because they worshipped sex, God gave them up the perversion of homosexual practice. In the same way, when the Israelites lusted for meat in the wilderness God sent them so many quail that they covered the ground two cubits, or three feet, thick. Then he judged them with a plague (Numbers 11).
Since the early seventies Western Culture has lusted for females in power. We have lusted after all kinds of forbidden sexual perversions. Environmental Fundamentalism has increasingly worshipped nature. My fear is that God will give us up to these lusts and that Kamala Harris will be its expression.
She is a contemporary Jezebel, the arch enemy of ancient Israel. When she served in the U.S. Senate she had the most liberal voting record of any senator. She is completely sold out to the irrationality of Climate Change Fundamentalism, LGBTQ perversion, the WOKE movement, Black Lives Mater, Defund the Police, and on and on. On top of that she is power crazed and unstable.
God would be just to put her in the White House. We deserve it. He is sovereign. No one resides there without God’s express permission.
The Most High rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom he will and sets over it the lowliest of men (Daniel 4:17).
The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart to all generations (Psalm 33:10–11).
Daniel 4:17
So, what should we as Christians do? How should we respond?
First, it is imperative that we confess the sins of our nation to God. The church exists for this purpose. We are light and salt. We are the nation’s conscience. We are also called to be a Kingdom of Priests. Priests act as mediators between God and man. Here is what that prayer might look like.
God, we have sinned against you. We deserve your wrath. We have set numerous idols before you. We have rejected you and your law. You would be just to destroy us. You would be just to torment our nation with someone like Kamala Harris.
O Lord, have mercy. Forgive our many and grievous sins. We don’t deserve your forgiveness, but we come to you, and we plead with you, because we know that you are “Gracious and merciful. Slow to anger. And abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. You forgive iniquity, sin, and rebellion” (Ex. 34).
That is our only hope, God’s character, and on that we can rely.
Bill – take another look at Jude and 2 peter2. Similar to your comments from Roman’s 1.
